I had already complained, earlier in
this blog, about the stupidity of incompatible RSS
versions. Now Mark Pilgrim (of Dive Into Mark and Atom fame) has
written an
article on RSS compatibility which reviews these
different versions in detail: he finds that there are actually
nine different standards for RSS, nearly all of
which are incompatible with nearly all others. Great. How can we
expect content syndication to work after that? (Recall that one
interpretation of the RSS abbreviation is Really
Simple Syndication
…)
The least insane version appears to be 1.0, which is the one I use.
