Gratuitous Literary Fragment #70 (the guardian and the general)

The scene is neatly divided in two. On the left, the second legion in marching formation, terrifying but orderly, spreading as far as the eye can see, all in hues of red and gold. On the right, the domed building and wild parklands of the Sanctuary, wild but majestic, resplendent with liveliness, flaring with greens and blues. Between them, the general-in-chief of the legion and the guardian of the Sanctuary stand face to face. Only their hair color tells them apart. Grim determination shows on the general's expression: he is ready to outrage the place if he must. The guardian's contenance, however, registers calm assurance. His last line, you shall not pass, is still on his lips. Both men are smiling.
