Other good news -- this thread (http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel.wireless.general/60540) seems to show a Marvell employee working with the kernel team to get a full version of the driver in. The last entry as of today (4/4/2012) is that the patch is being resubmitted after fixing lots of problems -- so it will probably still be a while; but the driver does seem to be making progress toward becoming a valid linux driver.
